Real child voice overs!

How do I get my child into voice acting?

How can my child become a voice actor?

This is the most frequently asked question we receive a few times every week. To be part of our child voice-over pool, the most important quality to bring is experience!

- Experience as an actor

- Experience in acting and singing in musicals

- Experience working with a director

- Experience in dubbing and voice-over work

Clients who book a voice at VoiceOverKids.Agency expect a skilled young professional who can deliver. So, proper experience to work at a professional level is a necessity. If it were so easy that any child without experience could do the job, clients could simply ask their spouse or neighborhood kids to do their voice-overs, but that’s not how it works. Like any other job, certain skills are required.

But what if my child really wants to be a voice actor but lacks the required experience?

Steps to Gain Experience for Kids Interested in Voice-Over Work

1) Join a local theater or musical club: This is a great place to learn from others and to understand how to work with a director.

2) Take acting lessons: Learn the essentials of voice acting, including vocal range, character voices, timing, and emoting.

3) Take singing lessons: Many skilled singers are also great voice actors because they know how to get the best out of their vocal cords.

4) Record or voice demo or voicereel. Once your child has gained the necessary experience, create a voice-over demo to showcase their acting and voice-over skills. You will need a professionally produced demo, not a phone recording. A local sound studio experienced in voice-over recording can help you with this.

5) Keep an eye on voice casting opportunities. Sometimes agencies like VoiceOverKids.Agency hold casting days a few times a year. In that case, a homemade phone recording can be a first step to see if a casting director is interested in doing a test recording.

My child has the required experience and a professional voice-over reel. What should we do now?

Reach out to recording studios and sound production houses that specialize in working with children. They may be interested in listing your child.

What about setting up a home recording studio so we can do voice-over recordings from home?

Unless the child voice casting agency or studio is local or nearby hat can be the next step, but we strongly recommend waiting until you have established a strong client base. Setting up a home recording studio at a level acceptable to high-end clients requires sound recording and editing skills, as well as a soundproof voice-over booth. Be aware this is quite an investment that is not easy to recoup.

My child does have all the required experience. Can we apply to be a part of the VoiceOverKids.Agency talent pool?

Yes you can! Please sent a CV and your voice demo to bookings@voiceoverkids.agency to be considered.
